Mid-week word for thought...STIFLE

Mid-week word for thought —STIFLE

Webster’s College Dictionary – 2. “to suppress, curb, or withhold”

Do you remember the sitcom All in the Family? The main characters were Archie and Edith Bunker. Many times Edith would be chattering away, going on and on and on about something. Archie would be sitting in his chair and look at Edith and say “stifle”.

Sometimes that might be what we need to do. Keeping our mouth closed and listening. Look at the situation from a different angle. God often tells us to be still and know that He is God.

Instead we push, press and fight for control which causes more stress and conflict. So how about this week when you are feeling tempted to fight for control, sit back and tell yourself —– stifle.
